tlantic Crossing      Atlantic Crossing
Opening the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission’s 2010 Sculpture Garden Concert Series on June 11th is an officially designated American Masterpiece , the Vermont folk band Atlantic Crossing . This acoustic quartet plays and sings music of the New England, Cape Breton, and Celtic traditions as well as original material inspired by these traditions. Featuring rich harmonies and driving rhythms, Atlantic Crossing shows a deep love for tradition along with creativity, emotional expression, and playfulness. Their instruments include fiddle, banjo, guitar, bozouki,

pennywhistle, and feet.

For over twelve years their music has energized audiences and contra dancers at concerts, festivals, dance camps, and on public radio in England, Canada, and, coast-to-coast, the U.S. Samples from their four recordings can be heard on their web site atlanticcrossingvt.com
and http://www.vermontartscouncil.org/Portals/0/tabid/89/Default.aspx

July 9th - Friends of Tom (Folk, Blues, Country)

Friends of Tom

Friends of Tom is a refreshing mix of folk, blues, country, and rockabilly,
with a little honky-tonk for fun. Oh my goodness this is a fun band. It's
pure Americana with a pinch of back-woods, a smidgen of back porch, a dash
of delta, with sprinkles of twang. Their sound incorporates an interesting
mix of instrumentation using mandolin, harmonica, stand up bass, telecaster
twang guitar and powerful soulful vocals with an occasional yodel for the
WOW factor that distinguishes them from their peers. When you hear the boot
stomping you know Friends of Tom is going into high gear.
Check out their website at www.friendsoftomband.com.

July 16th - BC Combo

Bev Conklin is the BC of the Combo with Wayne Smith on drums and guitar and Nick Franclik on bass. Special guest will include Dave Smith on sax. Each offer their strengths on Blues, Americana, Beach, Folk, Soul, Country and more along with a preview of their upcoming originals.

The series runs from June through July 2010 from 6pm to 8pm, rain or shine (the city's Rotunda is the rain location).  The Sculpture Garden is located right next to Bethlehem's City Hall. Presented by the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission, the concerts represent its committment to presenting quality art forms to enhance the lives of the city and its citizens.

The Sculpture Garden is located at the east end of City Hall and was founded in 1978 to present outdoor sculpture as an art form for all to share.

Works are either commissioned, purchased after completion, or received as gifts. Pieces are continually being added to the growing repertoire of works by well-known and well respected sculptors such as Rudy Ackerman, Harry Bertoia, Antonio Salemme, Tim Considine and Renzo Fazzioli and more.

With the City's generous help, the Commission spent time last summer planting some wonderful perennials. These natural additions make the Sculpture Garden a great place to sit under the trees while you dine on a bag lunch and enjoy the surroundings.
